Lane Restrictions Scheduled for Bridge and Road Repairs in Philadelphia
3/25/2010 -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that lane closures are scheduled on Interstate 95, Academy Road and Ashburner Street in Philadelphia for bridge and road repairs, weather permitting.
The following work will be performed by Road-Con Inc. under a $10.1 million contract:
- Monday through Friday (March 29-April 2) – One lane will be closed on Academy Road between Torresdale and Frankford avenues for patching from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Tuesday through Thursday (March 30-April 1) – One lane will be closed on northbound and southbound I-95 between Cottman Avenue and Academy Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the installation of protective shielding on bridge over Ashburner Street.
- April 5 through July 15 – Westbound Ashburner Street will be closed and
detoured between State Road and Torresdale Avenue for expansion dam and
abutment replacement. Ashburner Street through traffic will detour over State
Road, Linden Avenue and Torresdale Avenue. Local access will be maintained up
to the construction zone.
- Lane closures also may occur Monday through Friday (March 29-April 2) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the northbound and southbound decks of the I-95/Girard Point Bridge over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Crews will install painting platforms over the northbound lanes and prepare the southbound deck for resurfacing.
This work is part of a $70,342,922 ARRA project to rehabilitate and paint the bridge. The contractor is the tri-venture of Buckley & Company, Inc. of Philadelphia, Alpha Painting & Construction Company, Inc. of Baltimore, Md.,
and Liberty Maintenance, Inc. of Campbell, Ohio.
