Lane Restrictions Scheduled On I-95 For Bridge Repairs In Philadelphia
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that lane restrictions are scheduled next week (March 22-26) on northbound and southbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia for bridge repair, weather permitting.
The following work will be completed by Crossing Construction under a $10.8 million contract:
- Monday through Friday (March 22-26) – Northbound and southbound I-95 will be restricted between Girard Avenue and Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) in Philadelphia from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge repairs.
- Monday through Friday (March 22-26) – One lane will be closed on Tacony Street between Bridge Street and Aramingo Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for overhead bridge repair on I-95.
- Monday through Friday (March 22-26) – One lane will be closed on Front Street between Packer Avenue and Oregon Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for overhead bridge repair on I-95.
The following work will be completed by Road-Con Inc. under a $10.1 million contract:
· March 29 – Westbound Ashburner Street will be closed and detoured between State Road and Torresdale Avenue for expansion dam and abutment replacement. The 24-hour a day detour will be in place through July. Ashburner Street through traffic will detour over State Road, Linden Avenue and Torresdale Avenue. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
In addition, crews will work Monday through Friday (March 22-26) to install painting platforms over the northbound lanes. Northbound I-95/Girard Point Bridge will be reduced from three lanes to two each day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The southbound deck of the I-95/GPB will be reduced from three lanes to two on Tuesday, Wed., Thurs (March 23-25) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge deck construction. In addition, there will be a lane closure on the southbound deck of the bridge on Tuesday (March 23) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for equipment delivery.
This is a $70,342,922 ARRA project to rehabilitate and paint the bridge. The contractor is the tri-venture of Buckley & Company, Inc. of Philadelphia, Alpha Painting & Construction Company, Inc. of Baltimore, Md., and Liberty Maintenance, Inc. of Campbell, Ohio.
