PennDOT to Host I-95 Girard Avenue Interchange Design Charrettes

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is hosting a series of design workshops, or charrettes, beginning in late July to identify waterfront planning, recreational and environmental improvements that can be in integrated into the design of the first two phases of the project to improve the I-95/Girard Avenue Interchange.

Participation in the workshops is limited to local community and business groups and is not open to the public. Those interested in observing, reviewing or commenting on the workshops’ activities may contact one of the participating groups.

The charrettes will be led by engineering and planning professionals representing PennDOT, the Federal Highway Administration and the City of Philadelphia and will include participation by representatives of community and business interests who are members of PennDOT’s Sustainable Action Committee (SAC). The SAC was established last spring to work with the community in developing ground-level improvements that can be incorporated into the design of the five phases of the I-95/Girard Interchange Project.
