As the various segments of I-95 are being rebuilt, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and PennDOT are installing a number of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components that will improve mobility and safety on the busy interstate.
These components -- traffic cameras, electronic message boards and in-pavement sensors -- provide motorists with real-time information about traffic and pavement conditions, and alert police and emergency responders to incidents on the highway.
