Overview

Cottman Avenue Two Ways Aug. 31 Between Torresdale Ave. and State Rd.

Aug. 29, 2011 - A five-block section of Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia that currently carries only westbound traffic will become a two-way street on Wednesday (Aug. 31) at approximately 10 a.m., when crews open a single eastbound lane between Torresdale Avenue and State Road, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today. CP1 Construction Update: August 2011 

NEW SOUTHBOUND ON-RAMP OPENED 

Construction of the new southbound on-ramp from State Road at Longshore Avenue has been completed and the ramp is now opened to traffic. More here.

Breaking Ground on May 14, 2009 for the first phase of the project to reconstruct the I-95 Cottman Avenue Interchange are: (l to r) Julie Slavet, Aide to Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz; Peter Naccarato, local businessman; Lester Taoso, PennDOT District Executive; State Senator Michael Stack; State Representative Michael McGeehan; and former Congressman Robert Borski. Under the $31.9 million project, PennDOT will build two new ramps and make improvements to Cottman Avenue, State Road, Princeton Avenue and other surface streets in the interchange area. The second and final stage of the project, expected to go to construction in 2011, will rebuild the remaining ramps along with 1.4 miles of I-95 between Levick Street and Bleigh Avenue.
