PennDOT Completes Numerous Improvements to Surface Roads, SEPTA
To Reduce Congestion Along I-95 Corridor in Philadelphia, Bucks County
January 2009 - PennDOT has completed a number of Congestion Management Strategies (CMS) projects on surface roads and at SEPTA facilities along the I-95 corridor. These projects promote the use of mass transit or improve traffic flow on alternate and circulatory routes in the I-95 project areas before, during and after the construction on the interstate.
Completed CMS projects include the following:
Upgrades to traffic signal equipment on
• Torresdale Avenue from Harbison Avenue to to Linden Street.
• Holme Avenue from US 1 to Willits Road.
• Willits Road from Holme Avenue to Crispen Street.
• Route13/Frankford Avenue from Bridge Street to Bucks County Line.
• Route 13/Bristol Pike from Bristol Borough to Philadelphia City Line.
• Knights Road from Street Road to Philadelphia City Line.
Improvements to intersections on New State Road/Tacony Road from Bridge Street to Old State Road (11 intersections).
Improve and interconnect traffic signals on
• Knights Road from Frankford Avenue to Bucks County Line (12 intersections).
• State Road from Milner Street to Grant Avenue (18 intersections).
• Princeton Avenue from Van Dyke Street to State Road and on Beigh Avenue at the I-95 off ramp.
Signal, intersection and corridor improvements on Academy Road from Linden Avenue to Woodhaven Road (11 intersections).
SEPTA improvements
• New rail cars, signal improvements, track upgrades, and shuttle service at Bensalem Park ‘n Ride.
• Construct Park ‘n Ride Lots at Bensalem, Trevose, Yardley, Woodbourne and Philmont stations.
